CQC Compliance
for Clinics

Everything you need to know about CQC registration, inspection, and ongoing compliance — written specifically for aesthetic and injectable clinics, not care homes.

⚠️ July 2026 Update: New injectable licensing legislation comes into force this month requiring all aesthetic practitioners to hold government-approved accreditation. INTENTIQ's injectable traceability and CPD modules already support this requirement.
Who this is for: If you perform Botox, dermal fillers, or any injectable treatment in the UK — and especially if you are registered or planning to register with the CQC — this page is your starting point. We've mapped every major CQC regulation to what it means for your day-to-day clinic operations.

  • Emergency drug box checked weekly

Do I need to register with CQC if I only do Botox and fillers?
If you are a regulated healthcare professional (nurse, doctor, dentist, paramedic) performing any procedure that constitutes a “regulated activity” — including administering prescription-only medicines like Botulinum Toxin — yes, CQC registration is likely required. Check the CQC regulated activities list and seek advice from your professional body.

What does CQC actually look at during an aesthetic clinic inspection?
Inspectors assess five domains: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well-Led. In aesthetic, weight-loss, wellness and private clinics they focus heavily on: consent records, injectable traceability, emergency preparedness (anaphylaxis kit, training), complaints handling, staff training and DBS, and governance documentation.

What is the new injectable licensing law coming into effect in July 2026?
From July 2026, all practitioners performing cosmetic injectables must hold accreditation from a government-approved body and operate from licensed premises. Local authorities gain enforcement powers. INTENTIQ's CPD and practitioner credential tracking modules support compliance with this requirement.

How can INTENTIQ help me prepare for a CQC inspection?
INTENTIQ maintains a live, timestamped evidence trail across all governance domains — consent, traceability, audits, incidents, complaints, training, and SOPs. Every record you create in the platform is already formatted as inspection evidence. Book a demo to see it in action.
